What is the PNL Challenge?

The CFK Performance, Nutrition, and Lifestyle Challenge is a 12-week challenge designed to help give you the tools to establish a healthier lifestyle.  This is not a diet, but rather a path to identifying and implementing better eating habits that fit your lifestyle, and as a result improve your overall well being with the added benefit of enhancing performance in the gym and in your daily lives.  We do not treat it as a diet because diets tend to be finite and usually result in a crash and burn.  Rather we want you to treat the next twelve weeks as your own personal science project to see what works best for you and your lifestyle.  Over the twelve weeks, we want you to eliminate or purge items in your diet that may be limiting you in achieving your weight loss and performance goals and take the opportunity to really analyze and assess what and when you are consuming, what it is doing to your body, and how it makes you feel.  Treat it as a detox period, after which you may decide what things to incorporate back into your daily or weekly regimen to continue to meet your goals and maintain an overall feeling of well being.  However, the challenge does not just focus solely on nutrition, but also encourages better sleep and recovery habits, stress reduction activities as well as healthy supplementation.  At the end of the challenge, the goal is for you to be more knowledgeable about what you are consuming and your lifestyle habits and hopefully continuing to incorporate more positive habits into your daily lives.  I do not believe extremes in any aspect of life will ever lead to a healthy outcome or for that matter can ever be 100% sustainable.   The goal is to find the right balance for your individual lifestyle and achieving moderation.  After the challenge many of our participants have been able to identify a path for success that works best for them.   We hope that by the end of the challenge you will not look at this as a one-time thing to see if you can win. But rather, look at it as a jumping off point for a life time of better health and well being.   Many of you are looking to make positive changes in your lives, but are at a loss as to where to start.  This challenge is designed to help you get started and give you the tools to assess and identify areas in your life that may need improvement, while at the same time holding each other accountable in a fun and friendly competition.  We have had so many great success stories over the years in each challenge we have completed.

What do you Eat?

Quite Simply:  Meats, Vegetables, Nuts and Seeds, some Fruit, Little Starch, No Sugar or Processed/Refined food. Basic tenets:  Keep your shopping cart to the perimeter of the grocery store.  The more perishable the food, the better.  You will learn to read labels.  If it has more than 2-3 ingredients and you cannot pronounce the ingredient, you should probably avoid it.  During the information session we will provide detailed guidelines on foods that will be allowed and foods that will need to be eliminated during the challenge.

Is this a Paleo, Primal or Zone Challenge?

No, we are not necessarily following any specific diet such as the paleo, primal or zone diets.  Rather we want you to focus on clean eating.  The focus is on real, whole foods such as lean proteins, healthy fats, lots of fruits and vegetables and good starches and eliminating processed and refined foods that offer no nutritional value and can be limiting you in achieving your goals.   For an added fee, challenge participants will also have the opportunity to obtain a Dexa Body Composition Scan.
